The Greater Hartford Regional School Choice Office (RSCO) was created by the Connecticut State Department of Education to assist families interested in learning about, and applying to, RSCO schools and programs located in the Greater Hartford region. The RSCO staff provide families with the information they need to make timely and informed decisions about their student’s public school choice options given the child’s age and interests.

The RSCO offers four programming options:

  1. RSCO Interdistrict Magnet Schools serve various grades located in Hartford and throughout the Greater Hartford region. These public school options attract PreK-12 applicants and are theme-based to support personalized learning opportunities.
  2. The Hartford Region Open Choice Program provides an opportunity for Hartford students to attend non-magnet suburban public schools, and for suburban students to attend a non-magnet Hartford public school.  Separate from RSCO’s magnet school offerings, Open Choice students attend an existing district school outside of their hometown and transportation is provided.
  3. Technical High Schools, Grades 9 to 12 (Career and College Readiness Program)
  4. Agricultural Science and Technology Schools, Grades 9 to 12 (Career and College Readiness programming)
