WHAT IS THE WIOA?

WIOA authorizes career services, job training and education programs and services for eligible youth and adults.

Key components of this reform include streamlining services through a One-Stop service delivery system, through the Connecticut Department of Labor, American Job Center’s, empowering individuals through information and access to training resources through partnerships with state, regional and local organizations to promote a universal approach to providing effective workforce assistance to job seekers and businesses.

WIOA PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY:

WIOA Adult programs are for people ages 18+ who need help gaining employment, or who have disabilities, or are veterans, dislocated workers, displaced homeowners, or ex-offenders. Intensive employment assistance and training are provided to those with few or no skills.

WIOA Youth programs are for in-school or out of school youth ages 14 through 21 who are low income and who have at least one barrier to employment. Youth programs require year round participation and involvement in educational enrichment or literacy programs, and include a summer employment component.
