DESCRIPTION:Join the East Hartford Health Department and the CT American Heart Association for a Narcan and Hands-Only CPR (Chest Compressions) Training. This training is free and will equip participants with life-saving skills that anyone can use during a medical emergency\, including an opioid overdose. Each participant will receive a free Narcan kit\, including Deterra safe medication disposal bags. DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to the New Britain Eye Health Fair to be held Tuesday\, June 3\, from 11am-2pm. \nThe event is designed to empower individuals with vision impairments by offering information\, access to resources\, and opportunities to connect with supportive services aimed at improving eye health and overall well-being. \nThose living with cataracts\, glaucoma\, macular degeneration\, blindness\, or other vision impairments are encouraged to attend\, as are caregivers. \nIn addition to community resources\, the fair will showcase the artwork of Kristen Dockendorff\, a blind artist and the honorary speaker for the event. It will feature free items and giveaways. \nAmong the 15 participating vendors and speakers are The Connecticut Library for Accessible Books\, Vanda Pharmaceuticals (focused on Non-24 (Hour) Sleep-Wake Disorder)\, the Southeast CT Community Center of the Blind\, and the Connecticut National Federation of the Blind. \nUR Community Cares in collaboration with the New Britain Housing Authority and New Britain Recreation and Community Services\, are organizing the event. SUMMARY:Teddy Bear Clinic in Meriden - 4-23-2025
DESCRIPTION:The Meriden Public Library\, in partnership with the Meriden Health Department\, will host a Teddy Bear Clinic for preschool and school-age children from 4:30pm-6pm on April 23. The clinic will take place in the Children’s Storytime Room at the library\, located at 105 Miller Street in Meriden. \nChildren ages 3 and up will have a chance to play doctor with their favorite stuffed animal and learn about medical equipment\, such as the stethoscope and otoscope. The clinic is designed to alleviate children’s fears about visiting the doctor and to help them develop confidence for upcoming office visits. \nParents are asked to bring their children’s favorite bear or other stuffed animal.
