What is Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)?

*VITA is also available for persons with disabilities and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their tax returns.

How do you want to have your taxes done this year?

In-Person

Taxpayers bring their tax documents (click HERE for the list of required documents) to a physical VITA location and meet in-person with a certified VITA volunteer. The VITA volunteer prepares the tax return at the appointment with the taxpayer and files it with the taxpayer’s consent.

Click the links below to see a list of VITA sites offering in-person appointments in and around your county. Read the details for each VITA location carefully to determine how to make an appointment.

Some VITA sites allow for booking appointments online. To make an appointment at one of those sites, click HERE. If you need additional assistance, you may dial 2-1-1 (press option 3, and then 6).

Drop-Off

Taxpayers bring tax documents (click HERE for the list of required documents) to a participating VITA site where they will be scanned in and a VITA volunteer will complete and file the return with taxpayer consent. Once taxes are complete they will be available for pick up. At certain sites the taxpayer may need to wait at the location while the taxes are prepared. Appointments are required.

Online

Use GetYourRefund.org to upload your tax documents to a virtual VITA site. Taxpayers answer simple questions about their household situation, securely upload tax documents, and get connected to a certified VITA volunteer. The VITA team will remotely prepare the tax return, speak with the taxpayer to review their return, and file the return with taxpayer consent.

The GetYourRefund virtual VITA platform is expected to open on January 24th. Click HERE after January 24th to get your online VITA return started.
