On October 25, 2024, Governor Lamont declared a state of emergency for CT in response to the critical fire weather conditions. Due to the extreme dry conditions and lack of rain, there is an increased threat for wildfires to develop and spread quickly. The declaration provides additional resources to state and local emergency management officials who are closely monitoring the situation and responding to active fires. The National Weather Service has also issued several alerts, including a Red Flag Warning, which means critical weather conditions are expected or occurring. In addition, a Stage 2 Drought Advisory has also been declared for Connecticut and residents are encouraged to minimize the amount of water used.
Additionally, an emergency burn ban is in effect statewide for all state parks, forests, and other state-owned public lands.
