Calls from Connecticut route to the University of Connecticut Health Center which maintains a 24-hour poison control telephone hotline. Information is available about medications, drugs, household products, and other substances.

University of Connecticut Health Center also manages a free telephone counseling line which provides information on all types of exposures during pregnancy or breastfeeding for Connecticut residents or women who have a Connecticut physician. Service is a resource for pregnant or breastfeeding women and their partners, those planning a pregnancy, or health care providers seeking information regarding medications, radiation, infectious diseases, substance abuse, pesticides, and occupational and environmental exposures.

ANIMAL POISON CONTROL CENTER – 888-426-4435
The hotline provides 24-hour veterinary diagnostic and treatment recommendations for animal poisoning crises and answers questions about toxic chemicals, dangerous plants, and other products that can be poisonous or fatal to animals. The hotline charges a set fee for this service.
