The following is a summary of information provided from the Connecticut Department of Corrections (DOC).

Personal identification documents such as a birth certificate, Social Security card, and driver’s license/Department of Motor Vehicles identification that is obtained – either during intake or during the term of confinement – from a person entering incarceration is stored in a secured location in each correctional facility.

HOW TO RETRIEVE PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS AFTER INCARCERATION:

Returning citizens should be provided back their personal identification by the correctional facility upon release. However, in some instances like direct releases from court, returning citizens may not receive their personal identification at release. To retrieve their personal documents and identification, these individuals should do the following:
